100% Self-Paced
Enrollment includes pre-recorded 4K videos with lifetime access to all of them
but when it comes to building a digital planner, something always breaks down.
🫤 The hyperlinks don't work the way you expected
🎨 The layout looks great until you add the tabs
😩 You've watched tutorials but still can't figure out your specific problem
And you're left wondering why yours doesn't look or behave like the ones selling for $30+ on Etsy.
The good news?
Most planner problems come down to a few foundational techniques — not talent. Which means once you know them, everything clicks into place.
✅ InDesign AND Affinity — so you're not locked into one tool
✅ Hyperlinks, tabs, and navigation that actually work
✅ Scripting and automation to build faster
✅ Professional layouts, covers, and page structures
So your planners come together intentionally — not through trial and error 😌
Without the right foundations, you risk:
😮💨 Rebuilding the same planner page over and over
🤔 Guessing at hyperlinks instead of knowing exactly how to set them up
😰 Avoiding automation because it feels too technical
🤷 Never finishing your planner because something always feels incomplete
😔 Losing momentum on a product you actually believe in

Everything you need to create your dream digital planner is included, along with full beginner friendly step-by-step video instruction.

If we haven't met before, I'm Kirstin — and I've been designing and selling digital planners since 2018, when I created my first planner and realized this was something people genuinely needed.
What started as a side project became KDigitalStudio, a full-time gig built around helping iPad users plan beautifully. Over the years I've designed the Cyberry planner, built a library of digital planning tools, grown a YouTube channel dedicated to GoodNotes and iPad productivity, and quietly become one of the go-to voices in the digital planning space.
Digital Planner Design Lab exists because I kept getting the same questions: How do you make the tabs work? How do you set up hyperlinks? How do you build something that feels professional? The answers weren't anywhere — so I put them all in one place.
Not theory. Not simplified demos. The real workflow, the real tools, the real techniques — in both InDesign and Affinity — so you can build planners that work exactly the way you want them to.
Desktop or Laptop
The bulk of the course uses an M1 Pro Macbook. I highly suggest using a desktop or laptop capable of running Adobe InDesign. Here's a full list of the system requirements required by Adobe to run the program.
Adobe InDesign 2024 (or newer)
This course was filmed using Adobe InDesign 2024, so you'll need to be on that version or newer to fully follow along.
Optional
This course incorporates additional apps, programs, and devices for a well-rounded program, though these are not required to be successfully in designing a digital planner.
Apps featured: Apple Freeform, Goodnotes, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Reader (free version is sufficient), Google Sheets
Of course! We have had many people go through this course who have zero design background and still walk away with new skills and an improved eye for design. Developing design skills takes practice, and this course is a great place to start practicing.
And if you're well-practiced in design, it's my goal to walk you through my process to speed up your own workflows.
Our course is hosted on Teachery. After you enroll, you'll create your account on Teachery to login and access all the course videos & content. You can then login at any time to pick up where you left off!
This course is self-paced, so you can take as little or as long as you'd like on it! There's no deadlines. The total length of all the video lessons is over 6 hours. Each lesson has video controls to change the playback speed and play/pause lessons.
In order to successfully complete and follow along with the course, you will need a computer and Adobe Indesign. This course demonstrates lessons using a Mac, but you're welcome to use a PC as well. I also recommend having access to at least one PDF annotation or note-taking app, such as Goodnotes to trial your planner creation.
This course is not dedicated to teaching the ins and outs of InDesign BUT everything you need to know about InDesign to design and create digital planners, you will learn in this course. Prior experience with InDesign is helpful, but not required.
This course does not focus on selling digital planners. But I will discuss how you can update your planner designs as different variants for different years, change from Sunday to Monday start, update colors, and more. What you learn in this course, you can certainly apply to your own planner designs that you sell.
Because this course is self-paced, I won't be checking in with you at every step. And this is for your benefit to drop and pick back up when you need to! BUT... I recommend joining the course's private community group because myself (and other members) will be there to help answer questions, encourage you, and get you to the next step if you ever get stuck!
Everything in this course is delivered digitally immediately following your purchase. Because I want to protect the content and work that went into the course, refunds are not permitted. I understand online courses can be an investment, so it is important for you to read this entire page and reach out if you have additional questions you need answered before committing!
Not yet! Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, and other shortcut coding techniques (iOS only) will be added to the course. I can't wait to share even more techniques and value with you soon.
Always happy to help, and I'm only an email away. Use my contact page.
